PPA is about to launch a major SAFE CYCLING campaign, focusing the attention on safe passing distance. We believe vehicles should pass cyclists with at least a 1.5m berth, and you can help us to spread the word.
Wacky Wheels 2012 entries are open!
Entries have opened for the PPA Wacky Wheels Weekend Adventure on 16-18 March 2012. This overnight cycle tour is a chilled-out, very social weekend (no racing!!) with the emphasis on FUN and a great weekend away. This year’s tour is a bit different to recent tours in that your campsite is booked for both Friday and Saturday; you make your own way to and from Onrus where we leave our vehicles, and we do out-and-back cycles from there.

Tuesday cycle training at Killarney
Join PPA on Tuesdays for cycling training sessions on the Killarney Motor Racing track (18h00-19h00). Registration from 17h30 in the pits area. Depending on the number of cyclists on the day, there will be two to three start groups, with an experienced cyclist leading the training session. In general the sessions start off slowly, with the speed and/or intervals increasing towards the end.
Aca Joe Pro Classic (league) series entries now open
Entries are open for the 2012 Aca Joe summer Pro Classic (league) series. Cyclists who qualify with regards to age and seeding, can enter one of eight racing groups. Summer events with Pro Classic (league) status in 2012 are: Tour de PPA (15 Jan), Cyclelab Cape Cobra (22 Jan), Bouckaert-Soenen (29 Jan), Rollercoaster (5 Feb), Medallion Tour de Stellenbosch (19 Feb); Wellington Lions Cycle Day (25 Feb) and Bay City Cycle Tour (26 Jan).

Discounts for PPA members at these MTB trails
PPA members who want to explore new MTB trails over the festive season, can do so at a discounted day permit prices at the Schapensberg trails near Somerset West, as well as the new trails at Thandi, Paul Cluver and Hermanus.
Three cheers for the ladies! (mostly pics…)
The first all-female “ PPA Heels on Wheels, presented by Shape” took place on Sunday 11 December, with over 560 female cyclists entering the event. Despite the light rain early in the morning, the ladies rocked up en masse for the event.
