Pedal Power Association is calling for improvements to be made to the K53 Manual and Driving Licence Test to make bicycle awareness a core part of driver training and testing, with emphasis on how much space to give cyclists, how to safely interact with cyclists at intersections, and how to safely overtake cyclists.

Entries for the PPA “Tread Lightly” Women’s MTB on Saturday 18 May 2012 at Backsberg Estate Cellars have closed. With just under 800 ladies entered, this is the biggest all-female event in the country and set to be an amazing event! Specific event information and details has been emailed to all entrants.

PPA says: Cyclists Stay Alive at 1.5m
“We are pedalling to support PPA’s CYCLISTS STAY ALIVE AT 1.5m safety campaign,” said a peloton of eighty cyclists who started the 2013 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour today.
The peloton, all wearing their distinctive 1.5m safe cycling jerseys, made a highly visible yellow-and-red splash in the start chutes this morning. Read more…

Third Nashua Grape Escape Attracts Major Local and International Riders
The third Nashua Grape Escape 3-day mountain bike stage race – due to take place in the Boland from 28 February to 2 March – has already attracted the interest of major local and international mountain bike riders. This year the race will come with a new twist: in addition to the 3-day race option, riders – especially those new to MTB stage racing – will also have the opportunity to participate in a 2-day stage race option.
